Myron Santmyer founded Santmyer Oil Company, Inc. when he opened a Gulf service station in Dalton, OH and became a commissioned Gulf distributor.

A Legacy of Service.
Founded in 1952 as Santmyer Oil Company, Santmyer Companies is a family group of companies comprised of three operating entities that collectively employ more than 200 Ohioans. Santmyer Energy is the distribution company whose products include gasoline, diesel fuel, diesel exhaust fluid, lubricants, and propane. Its major brand offerings include Marathon Petroleum, ExxonMobil, Sunoco, and Chevron Lubricants. Santmyer Transportation provides third-party logistics, inventory management, and order forecasting services throughout Ohio and the surrounding states. Red Rover operates branded retail convenience stores and automated fueling stations servicing both the consuming public and commercial fleets.
1965
Santmyer Oil moves to a larger bulk plant facility in Wooster, Ohio.
1980
Terry Santmyer purchases the business when it was comprised of two tankwagon trucks and four employees.
1983
Santmyer Oil was incorporated
1999
Santmyer purchases Ashland, Mount Vernon and Mansfield bulk plants from Ashland Oil Company
1999
Santmyer acquires a Marathon jobbership during the merger of Marathon Oil Company and Ashland Petroleum
2002
Santmyer Oil spins off its transport division to form SOCI Petroleum, Inc. which contained 12 transport trucks.
2004
Santmyer acquires Pen-Lor Enterprises and spins off its unattended cardlock division to form Santmyer Commercial Fueling Network, which contained a combined 12 automated fueling stations.
2004
Santmyer acquires the Dalton bulk plant location
2010
Santmyer acquires a Chevron Lubricant jobbership.
2011
Zach Santmyer becomes President of Santmyer Oil Company.
2012
Santmyer acquires a Sunoco jobbership to brand dealer locations.
2012
Santmyer acquires the Apple Valley General Store to operate as a Marathon location
2017
Santmyer sends 14 fuel tankers to Texas to supply fuel after Hurricane Harvey devastated the area.
2018
Santmyer Oil Company restructures into three operating entities under the Santmyer Companies, Inc., umbrella to better serve our customers.
